Pool features: As with anything else your fiberglass pool is not
complete without all the goodies now is it. I will take you through some of
the most popular upgrades. Fiberglass Pools require very little maintenance
therefore allowing more time for enjoyment.
Pool Pumps:
The world's most intelligent pumps are a "no brainer". I am a huge fan of
running my fiberglass pool 24 hrs a day. And there’s only one pump in the
world that can save you money while doing so. The New SVRS “the quietest
pool pumps in the world”.
A
breakthrough in energy-efficiency and service life, the IntelliFlo®
pump allows programming for 4 different speeds for different pool, spa or
water features applications. By dialing in the minimum speed required for a
task, the pump works less and uses less energy. Pump speeds are easily
adjusted with the push of an up or down arrow button.
The IntelliFlo® VS+SVRS is the revolutionary way to reduce energy
costs and meet the desire for the safest pool possible. This “intelligent”
pump's 8 speeds can help cut the pool portion of utility bills up to 90% and
save you hundreds of dollars per year and thousands of dollars over its
life. On the safety front, you install a Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS)
that senses drain blockage and automatically shuts the pump off in seconds
to provide an important layer of entrapment protection.
An Eco Select™ Choice: Standard pool pumps can consume as much
energy as all other home appliances combined? Often costing more than $1,000
per year! IntelliFlo pumps can typically cut energy use by 30% to 90%,
generally saving $620 to $1,350 in utility costs annually...more where rates
are higher than average.*
*Savings based on comparison pump running between 3.6 and 12 hours per day
at the national average of 15 cents/kilowatt hour in a 20,000 gallon pool.
Actual savings may vary based on plumbing size and length, pump model,
service factor, flow rates, and other hydraulic factors.
Filters:
Artistic Pools Normally uses De filters
on all of our Fiberglass Pools unless a customer requests something
Different.
Even though I have just stated a preference of D.E. filters over Sand over
Cartridge filters, I would rather have a large cartridge filter than a small
D.E. filter. So remember, in pool filters, size matters! The D.E. filter is
the most efficient type of pool filter on the market. It can trap particles
down to 3 - 5 microns; well below what the naked eye can see. As with sand
filters, the pressure gauge indicates a need for backwashing when it reads 8
- 10 lbs. higher than its clean reading. After backwashing a D.E. filter, a
new application of D.E. filter powder is added to the filter by pouring into
the skimmer. An annual breakdown of the filter is necessary to thoroughly
clean D.E. filter grids.
Heaters:
Heater’s do one of two
things for your fiberglass pool project. The most important attribute is
that it extends your pool season up to 85%. Second, a heater provides real
swimming pool comfort for those chilly nights. There are four ways to heat
your fiberglass swimming pool. The most economical is of course solar
however this system would not fare well alone in the Northeast without an
electric heat pump. You also have the option of Natural Gas or Propane. 90
percent of my fiberglass pools projects get an electric heat pump.
Heat Pump Pool Heaters: Still the most
cost-effective Choice
The
effects of Increased Energy Costs
Heat pump pool heaters, in general and Aqua Comfort, in particular, remain
your best pool heating option for fiberglass pools, now and in the future.
Improved design and performance means the most cost effective way to heat
your swimming pool.
The projected cost to heat your pool with an Aqua Comfort pool heater in
2009 is not much more than it was nine years ago in 2000. In fact in some
metro areas it’s lower now than seven years ago. Pool owners ask us all the
time “How can that be possible?”
During the
past seven years the cost of electricity, across the country, has been far
more stable than other energy categories such as natural gas, propane, oil
or gasoline. The inherent efficiency of heat pumps (5-7 times more efficient
than fossil fuel heaters) , in general, and the commitment by Aqua Comfort
to design and performance improvements that resulted in a heat pump pool
heater 27% more efficient than several years ago means pool heating costs
that are both reasonable and stable.
Because of
their inherent efficiency advantage, electric rates would have to rise 3-4
times faster than the cost of natural gas and 4-5 times faster than propane
to have an equivalent net dollar effect on the pool owner pocketbook. The
chart below indicates how a 50% increase in the cost of electricity, natural
gas and propane would affect your pool heating costs.
Lighting:
Fiberglass Pools love
light. We are now using the Fiber stars Pal-Treo Led pool lights. Lighting
up your fiberglass swimming pool is like being on a secluded island watching
the sky change colors. These Led Pool lights fit in standard wall fittings;
they are totally serviceable, replaceable LED lamp, wide beam technology,
brightest fiberglass pool light source in the world, Self Synchronized and
simply the best light for any fiberglass pool project. These pool lights
are 12 VAC, 5 watt complete underwater light. They fit most 1.5” wall
fittings. The best part is that you get to enjoy 100,000 hour Led color
array boasting 6 lockable colors and two color changing modes.
Salt Water Generators:
fiberglass Pools love salt
water. Swimming pools need to be sanitized. We have found that the Frog
Hybrid by King Technology to be the best system in its class. This system
utilizes a mineral reservoir to cut down on the chlorine needed to sanitize
your fiberglass Swimming Pool.
How does the Chlorine Generator work? Salt
water passes through the Chlorine Generator's electrolytic cell to produce
chlorine, which is then dissolved instantly in the water. This continuous
process destroys bacteria, viruses, algae, and oxidizes other organic
materials in the pool. Normal salt expense for Fiberglass Pools in one year
16.00. Now that’s saving money.
Tile:
Adding tile to your fiberglass pool not only
increases the aesthetic appearance but also covers the exposed fiberglass
from the sun and eliminates the need to clean the scum ring around the
perimeter of the swimming pool.
Pool Cleaners:
We are firm believers that a pool should be used for enjoyment
purposes. Fiberglass Pools require little maintenance and when it’s time to
clean the pool there’s no better way to do it than plug in the cleaner and
let it go. Independent cleaners have many advantages for fiberglass pools.
At Hayward, we engineer our line of cleaners to be low-maintenance, easy to
install and
energy-efficient.
That's what makes the specialty product of the season our energy-efficient
Tiger Shark Robotic Cleaner. The Tiger Shark uses less energy than pressure
or suction cleaners and has been selling worldwide for 40 years—a true
testimony to its outstanding performance and track record in the swimming
pool industry.
Easy to use and operate, all you do is take it out of the box, plug it in
and you're ready to go—no additional tools required. It's even equipped with
a convenient shut-off function, automatically powering down at the end of
its three-hour cleaning cycle. Utilizing its on-board smart computer, it
calculates the size of your fiberglass swimming pool for a programmed energy
efficient cleaning pattern for a spotless clean pool…every time. This
advanced portable cleaner brushes and scrubs while it vacuums reaching
everywhere in your pool including the bottom, sides and steps. It also
features an easy to clean reinforced cartridge element, which means no more
bags—yet another eco-friendly attribute. As an additional safety measure,
all Tiger Shark's feature a 24 DC volt, energy efficient motor.
Slides and Dives:
Slides and Dives can be added to your
fiberglass pools package for enjoyment. Diving boards require your pool to
be a minimum of 8’ deep, whereas slides can be installed in your swimming
pool at depth’s around 4 feet deep. The Turbo twister slide is a fun filled
twisting water slide designed for enhanced enjoyment for kids and adults.
Pool Covers:
The days of using the water bags around your fiberglass swimming pool with a
sheet of plastic are over. Fiberglass Pools along with other types should
in all cases have a safety pool cover installed. Fiberglass Pools should
always remain full of water. We encourage the use of a Defender Mesh cover
from Anchor industries. The innovative Defender Mesh Safety Pool Cover from
Anchor Industries has many great features. First, it inhibits algae growth
by stopping 98% of sunlight. Next, it reduces chemical loss from swimming
pool water. It also has D-Rings for ease of installation and webs are sewn
on the bottom side of the cover so leaves and other debris can be easily
removed. Brass anchors recess flush with the stamped concrete deck, when not
in use. This cover has a limited 144 month warranty.
With the
Defender Mesh Safety Pool Cover, all necessary installation hardware is
included. With a 12-year warranty and 30% heavier fabric, Defender Mesh also
easily folds for minimal storage space.
Water Features:
Fiberglass pools can be equipped with a wide array of water features
such as Swimming pool beach entry bubbler Jets, Deck jets, raised bond beam
water falls, rain water falls, sheer decent water falls, lighted rain water
falls, and Natural moss rock waterfalls containing fiber stars Led lights
and much more. Enhance your fiberglass pool project or water feature with
lights from Fiber stars. You will love it!
Stamped Concrete:
Fiberglass Pools are by far the wave of the
future in swimming pool products. Adding Stamped Concrete or Artistic
Pavers Decking to the surrounding of any fiberglass pool project enhances
the overall look and appeal the project in general. There are so many
patterns and Colors to choose from. I can honestly say that our past
customers love fiberglass pools but comment mostly on the beautiful stamped
concrete decking that surrounds their backyard retreat. I have always said
that “you can have a beautiful fiberglass pool, but if the concrete that
surrounds it looks bad the project was unsuccessful”.
Fencing:
Let's not leave out the finishing touch to every Fiberglass Pools project. The fence adds to the overall ambience to your backyard swimming pool project. The most common are 4' aluminum fencing. 6' pvc fencing is used for privacy and can include various colors to choose from. Protecting your family and other kids in the neighborhood should be your first priority. Lock's at a minimum of 54" high with spring loaded gates swinging away from your fiberglass pool project is required by law.
