AquaComfort Features |
Benefits |
Competition |
|
Designed and made for cooler climate markets |
Efficiently heats pool water even in air temperatures as low as 40 degrees. Works earlier and later in the season when the pool owner needs heat the most |
Designed primarily for Florida, they work only at temperatures above 50 degrees. Some even stop working at air temperatures as high as 62 degrees. |
|
|
Micro-computer
control technology |
Programmed micro-computer is the brains of the AquaComfort heat pump, allowing the heater to work very efficiently down to 40 degrees, as well as acting as a service analyzer to notify the pool owner of any problems should they arise. Introduced by our engineers in 1989, you can trust our technology. Reliability and experience the competition doesn't have. |
Most other heat pumps provide either a digital temperature display or control knobs to control pool temperature. The digital display gives the appearance of a programmed board when it's no more than an LED readout. The result is poor performance below 60 degrees. |
|
|
Turboguard heat exchanger |
Incorporates fusion blended alloy technology for long life, protection against corrosion and superior performance. We incorporate more heat transfer capability in a heat exchanger less than half the size of the competition. It's the next step in heat exchanger technology. |
Use a variety of heat exchangers including coated stainles steel and titanium. While good against corrosion, these heat exchangers sacrifice efficiencyand performance, meaning they cost more to operate (some 50% more than AquaComfort) and they don't perform when needed most (in lower temperatures). OK for Florida but not the rest of the continental US |
|
|
Advanced
manufacturing and lab |
Our lab facilities are second to none, allowing us to expertly match our components for the best performance and highest efficiency. With more than twice the manufacturing capability of our nearest competitor and over thirty years of design experience, our heaters`are built to perform. |
Smaller facilities, some with no labs at all. They don't have the production capability or design experience we have. |
|
|
More heat, higher efficiency |
Because we operate at lower temperatures, our heat pumps input 30-40% more heat/day than the competition. And we do it at efficiencies that are the best in the industry, meaning more heat at less cost |
Handicapped by designs developed for Florida, oversized heat exchangers that don't perform as well as ours and limit their ability to perform below 50 degrees and the inability to proficiently match components for optimum performance. |
Heat Pump Pool Heaters: Still the most cost-effective Choice
The
effects of Increased Energy Costs
Heat pump pool heaters, in general and AquaComfort, in particular, remain
your best pool heating option, now and in the future. Improved design and
performance means the most cost effective way to heat your pool.
The projected cost to heat your pool with an AquaComfort pool heater in 2009
is not much more than it was nine years ago in 2000. In fact in some metro
areas it’s lower now than seven years ago. Pool owners ask us all the time
“How can that be possible?”
During the past seven years the cost of electricity, across the country, has been far more stable than other energy categories such as natural gas, propane, oil or gasoline. The inherent efficiency of heat pumps (5-7 times more efficient than fossil fuel heaters) , in general, and the commitment by AquaComfort to design and performance improvements that resulted in a heat pump pool heater 27% more efficient than several years ago means pool heating costs that are both reasonable and stable.
Because of their inherent efficiency advantage, electric rates would have to rise 3-4 times faster than the cost of natural gas and 4-5 times faster than propane to have an equivalent net dollar effect on the pool owner pocketbook. The chart below indicates how a 50% increase in the cost of electricity, natural gas and propane would affect your pool heating costs.

Historically, over any given period of time, electric rates and fossil fuel rates have changed in step with one another (especially in regions of the country where power plants are fueled by natural gas). In areas of the country where power plants are fueled primarily by coal (such as many parts of the Midwest), natural gas and propane rates have risen substantially faster than electric rates. If you’re considering your pool heating options on your new pool purchase or for your existing pool, keep in mind the many benefits of a pool heater (an extended season for more value for your pool purchase, comfortably warm water all season and the ability to swim and enjoy your pool more often) and remember that long term, electric rates are forecast to be stable with lower costs in many areas due to the end of restrictions that have limited competition and cost saving opportunities.
It’s
never been a better time to consider an AquaComfort pool heater for your new
or existing pool.
Smart Facts To Consider When Making Your Pool Heating Decision
• As a result of product improvements, the cost to heat a pool with an AquaComfort heater has changed very little during the past several years.
• AquaComfort heat pumps work, cost effectively, at lower temperatures, at night, where competitive heat pumps don’t work. As a result AquaComfort can save you an additional 30-40% in pool heating costs vs. other heat pumps, by allowing you to heat your pool during off-peak periods when electric rates are at their lowest.
• Don’t always believe the media hype. In many cases the media hype about escalating electric rates was greatly exaggerated. This is not to say that some metropolitan areas have not seen significantly higher electric rates; it simply means that the increases and their effects are not in line with the hype.
• Since 2000, while the efficiency of the average fossil fuel heater (natural gas, propane, oil) has remained constant, the AquaComfort heater has improved by 27% in efficiency.
• The efficiency of fossil fuel heaters decrease (on average by 33% within the first three years)over the course of their life expectancy while the efficiency of an AquaComfort heater is constant throughout its life,
• The life expectancy of an AquaComfort heater is nearly twice that of a fossil fuel heater.
•
Since 2000, nationwide:
Natural gas prices are up 82%
Propane prices are up 79%
Electric rates are up 29%
• Although changes due to deregulation of the electric industry have not resulted in lower electric rates yet, restrictions that are due to expire in 2007 and 2008 will mean that electric rates will not only stabilize but will be lower in most, if not all, regions of the country than they are now.
• Some areas that saw significant electric rate increases in 2006, may experience rate reductions in 2007 and beyond.
• Recently, Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P), Connecticut's largest utility announced a 5.5% decrease in rates effective July 1, 2007
Pool Heating & the Environment
When it comes to heating your swimming pool, every pool owner has the opportunity to make an environmentally smart choice as well as an economically smart decision. Aqua Comfort incorporates advanced new technology that will significantly reduce greenhouse gases associated with pool heating.

Dramatically Altered Consequences
Gas fired pool heaters are old technology. The use of gas fired pool heaters results in predictable consequences, high levels of greenhouse gases, mainly CO2, into the atmosphere (nearly 18,000 pounds of CO2 per year per heater). Gas fired pool heaters contribute nearly 3% of the total residential CO2 put into the atmosphere in the United States each year. They are no friend to the environment, to future generations or to your pocketbook.
The answer to dramatically altering the consequences of the old technology (gas heaters) is in the new, improved technology of Aqua Comfort pool heaters. Micro computer technology and advanced engineering design concepts such as our Turboguard heat exchanger means that Aqua Comfort heaters are the most efficient heat pump pool heaters available today. And the more efficient you are the more environmentally friendly you are.
By choosing an Aqua Comfort pool heater to heat your new pool or to replace or supplement your existing gas heater you are making an environmentally positive statement that you care about the future of our environment.
Protect our environment. Say no to gas heaters and less efficient heat pumps and say yes to Aqua Comfort, the environmentally smart pool heating choice.
